State and national leaders show aid for LGBTQ+ group after Nex Benedict’s death

OWASSO, OKLA. (KTUL) — National and state leaders addressed after the Oklahoma Medical Examiner determined it was a death.

Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are deeply sorry for their lost, according to a declaration from the White House.

Biden said in a speech:

Every young person deserves to feel safe and supported in their areas and at school, and every young man deserves the basic right to be who they are. Nex Benedict, a person who only wanted to be accepted, should still be here with us now.

Some of the bravest Americans I know are those who are trans and not-binary. However, no one should have to get valiant in order to be themselves. In honor of Nex, we had all reaffirm our commitment to fighting against discrimination and ending the suicide issue that affects too many transgender and nonbinary children. Nobody should be subject to the abuse that Nex did because bullying is harsh and cruel. Studies of abuse may be taken seriously by parents and schools. My prayers are with Nex’s family, friends, and all who loved them – and to all LGBTQI+ Americans for whom this horror feels so individual, know this: I will always have your up.

Biden also stated that any LGBTQI+ group member who feels depressed or exclusively is text or call 988, the country’s national problems helpline, and ring 3 to speak with a counselor who has experience supporting LGBTQI+ youth.

Oklahoma’s officials also released a statement regarding the blow.

The Medical Examiner’s Report was released on Thursday, and the Oklahoma House of Representatives issued a joint declaration.

The dreadful death of Nex Benedict is a severe recall of the energy that words have, according to The House. We as people officers and policy makers have a sacred duty to make sure that we conduct the work of the people with respect and dignity. Regardless of who they are or who they love, every animal life is precious and created in the image of God. We urge all Loading to join us in our determination to speak with respect and deliberation in our vocabulary.

Munson said her spirit goes out to Nex’s home, and that Nex deserved to grow up and live a happy, fulfilling life.

She added that she thought” a society and government that continuously pushes up and restrains their identity and those of other LGBTQ+ people” contributed to Lex Benedict’s death.
