A bill introduced by the Missouri House of Representatives would impose a significant fine, prison time, and inclusion on the state’s sex offenders register on teachers who support a transgender student’s social transition.
House Bill 2885 ( HB 2885 ), which was sponsored by Republican representative Jamie Gragg, would indict teachers or school counselors for a class E felony if they are found guilty of” contributing” to a young person’s social transition.
Teachers who offer help, whether it’s “material, data, or other resources” to a transgender student under the age of 18, are specifically prohibited by the costs.
