In the spirit of Holy Week, the Puerta Abierta ( open door ) apostolic group made up of members from Mérida’s LGBT+ community will conduct a Viacrucis.
On Friday, March 22, in the Candelaria temple of Mérida, at 7: 00 p. m., the Inclusive Viacrucis may be held for the second consecutive year, by the papal party Puerta Abierta, under the spiritual direction of the preacher Raul Lugo.
The community provides a place for people of sexual diversity to face God, especially for those who have felt separated or rejected from their position within the Catholic Church because of issues of sex identity or sexual preference.
This group of sexually diverse Christians was born and consolidated last year in the construction of Holy Week, inspired by Pope Francis ‘ concept of understanding and kindness. They have found a welcoming place to live and share their Christian beliefs, grow and form in the spiritual existence within the Catholic Church.
He claimed that they have been living in the Rectory of Nuestra Seora de la Candelaria in Mérida, where they have been receiving Father Ral Lugo’s spiritual direction, and that a work team has assisted them there.
