Transgender Day of Visibility is designated by Fairfax bosses

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously designated March 31 as” Transgender Day of Visibility” at its most recent meeting ( The Center Square ).

It coincides with Easter, a Christian sacred moment that honors the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The town of Fairfax’s president also gave the same name for the day.

The federal government made March 31 a moment to honor and celebrate the minority party last year. With next year’s statement, the committee brings that adherence to Fairfax County.

” This was requested by a lot of people, which is great”, Board Chairman Jeffrey McKay said, listing all the members of the board.

Supervisor Dalia Palchik called the proclamation a “moral critical,” and raised the issue of children suicide and depression. Each member took the opportunity to express their support for it and point out its necessity to them.

” To me, when we look at data, regardless of how you feel in your value system and your religious beliefs and other, there’s nothing that stands out more to me as to why this is important more than the information ]showing ] … more than half of our transgender students are depressed. Roughly half have considered death, and you see it across the table in our LGBT community”, Palchik said.

McKay echoed Palchik’s views, saying that elected officials may present support for anyone, especially those that are made to feel unpleasant.

It should be our moral duty as an elected official to stand up for all the people we represent, particularly those who are persistently persecuted by those who believe that that demonstrates power when in reality, it demonstrates a great deal of weakness, McKay said.

Further, McKay cited a Washington Post article that documented rising love acts in state with stricter laws or regulations.

” Some of these statehouses are having unfortunately the consequence that some of those elected representatives want, which is to punish people without regard for human life and without regard for dignity,” McKay said. It is egregious that the statistics speak for the poor children who live in those states with elected officials who wo n’t stand up and defend them.

Rev. The TransGender Education Association’s Emma Chattin wrapped up the instantiation, suddenly bringing up the idea that “leadership things.”

” This is a clear sign of the command required to contribute to the improvement of the world.” Leaders things”, Chattin said.

In 2016, Fairfax County declared its dedication to racial and social capital in a One Washington policy.
