Transgender health group supported ‘unethical’ operations on minors, report claims

In its advocacy for transgender health care, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health ( WPATH) is accused of supporting “unethical” medical procedures in a report released on Monday.

Doctors from all over the planet who treat trans patients make up WPATH. One of humankind’s “worst” medical scandals, according to Michael Shellenberger, president of Environmental Progress, led to findings that suggested the philanthropic had pursued a political agenda in its approach to transgender health care.

According to the report, “its approach to medicine is consumer-driven and unscientific, and its people appear to be engaged in political activism rather than science.”

According to the findings of the report, the organization’s internal messaging community and panel discussion demonstrated that it supported “arbitrary” health strategies. The nonprofit reportedly conducted surgical and hormonal experiments on “vulnerable” and “vulnerable” people, which were unjustifiable.

According to the findings, “risky experiments can only be justified in medication if there is a trusted, objective analysis, no other remedy options are available, and if the outcome for a individual or patient group is dire.” ” Gender medication does not fall into this category, contrary to the claims made by WPATH.”

According to the report, WPATH has supported terrible, life-changing operations like the death of the reproductive systems and the amputation of the breasts in children and people with mental illnesses. Some organization members reportedly claim that some patients are unable to explain the effects of the procedure.

Shellenberger claimed in an interview with The National Desk ( TND ) on Tuesday that WPATH is “making things up as it goes.”

Shellenberger told TND,” This is the group that claims it adheres to academic standards of care, but it does n’t.”

” At a minimum, I think people may be willing to stop this so-called treatments, which we call abuse, put a wait on it, research it, and this figure out what’s actually going on,” he said. ” Because it appears that a lot of people are suffering unnecessarily,” she said.

Environmental Progress demands that the United States look into how WPATH gained notoriety despite its alleged disregard for social problems.

WPATH leader Marci Bowers, M. D., stated in a speech to TND that the nonprofit “is and has always been a science- and evidence-based firm whose recommendations are frequently endorsed by big medical businesses around the world.”

” We are the experts who best understand the medical requirements of trans and gender different individuals,” Bowers told TND.” We stand opposed to people who de-legitimize and misrepresent the various identities and intricate needs of this people through scare tactics. ” The small minority of people who are transgender or gender different deserve medical attention, and they will never pose a threat to the gender imbalance globally.”

WPATH removed the time requirements for “gender-affirming” treatments in its advice released in 2022. The firm decided at the time to replace the age cap on based on a person’s puberty stage.
