The International Transgender Day of Visibility aims to promote” transgender joy.” The celebration on Sunday, which features demonstrations and panels, will be marked by buildings lit red, white, and light blue. The idea is to bring notice to a community that’s often ignored, disparaged or victimized. The event contrasts with the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honors the victims of transgender assault in November. Trans individuals have become more recognizable. However, some U.S. states have stricter restrictions on the activities in which trans women can participate, as well as restrictions on the number of school bathrooms they can use.
