Without a law in place, the Kansas Attorney General demands that transgender children attend institutions.

Despite the fact that there is no state law mandating it, Kansas ‘Republican Attorney General has urged public schools to send transgender and nonbinary students to their families.

According to PBS, Attorney General Kris Kobach sent letters to six different school districts in the state as well as the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) accusing them of giving in to “woke gender ideology” and requesting that they expel any students who did not conform to their parents.

Kansas is not one of the five US states that regrettably passed laws requiring teachers to let parents know if their baby is morally transitioning or identifying as trans or nonbinary.

Kobach nevertheless sent letters to a number of school districts informing them that it was against their parental rights for staff to keep the names of transgender or nonbinary students hidden from their parents.

The remaining four “dug in their heels and largely asserted that school officials know better than kids,” according to Kobach in a statement this week. When he first got in touch with the six school districts about his expectations, two responded to let him know that they had no programs to conceal individuals ‘identities from their parents.

Kobach cited anti-LGBT+ group Parents Defending Education in his letters to school districts. This organization has been embroiled in legal disputes over the admission of LGBTQ+ students to classrooms, but it was unable to cite any state laws mandating that schools violently expel trans or intersex students.

The remaining three school districts concurred that they would cope with transgender and nonbinary individuals on a case-by-case schedule, but the Kansas City college neighborhood declined to comment when asked about Kobach’s needs.

In a particularly forceful response to Kobach’s email, Shawnee Mission Unified School District Superintendent Michelle Hubbard charged that the latter was relying on “partisan source” and “misinformation.”

“We are never cartoons from the polarized internet, but rather actual people who work very hard in the face of severe pressure on people schools,” she wrote.

Justin Brace of Transgender Heartland in Kansas stated to NBC News that such a policy would unduly exempt trans kids and kids who are questioning or exploring their identity to their families before they are ready to talk about it, highlighting the serious risk of such laws.

Instead of allowing transgender children to simply exist as children who are learning, developing, and becoming themselves, which is what college is all about, we need to stop trying to pass laws that eliminate them from living and directly affect their mental wellness every time.

Kobach has made numerous attempts to limit or polarize the transgender society in his position in the past.

In order to reflect gender identity instead than female assigned at birth, the attorney general forbade Governor Laura Kelly’s democratic leadership from changing the lists of sexual on transgender peoples ‘government recognition, such as birth certificates and driving licenses, in 2023.

Also, this is not the first instance in which a state official has made an effort to impose anti-trans rhetoric in the absence of an explicit law requiring it.

Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, demanded data on transgender Texasans who had received gender-affirming healthcare in 2022 and called it harsh. His requirements were entirely supported by a legal analysis provided by Texas attorney standard Kevin Paxton.

Social numbers are pushing anti-EQL+ legislation in addition to policies that exclude trans or nonbinary students.

Says all over the US have made an effort to outlaw gender-affirming treatment, forbid trans women and girls from participating in women’s sports, or mandate that schools “out” trans and non-binary students to their parents.
